Valencia DunnAlpha Class HonoreeValencia Dunn, a Houston native, graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in Physical Education from Paul Quinn College, Class of 2007, and later earned her Master’s in Kinesiology/Sports Medicine with Magna Cum Laude honors from Dallas Baptist University. During her undergraduate years, she distinguished herself as Co-Captain of the Lady Tigers Women’s Basketball Team, a member of the Physical Education Club and Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society, and a leader on campus, serving as Homecoming Queen, Miss UNCF, and Miss Paul Quinn College (2006–2007). She was initiated into the Lambda Nu Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in Fall 2005, where she held multiple committee leadership roles, including Chapter President. Currently residing in Houston, Valencia serves as a Physical Education Teacher for HISD, an Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach, and an Aquatics Supervisor for the City of Houston Parks and Recreation. In each of these roles, she demonstrates a deep commitment to leadership, mentorship, and community impact. Valencia’s leadership philosophy is rooted in consistency, integrity, adaptability, and service. She inspires her students and athletes not only through instruction but also by modeling perseverance and accountability. She views education and sports as platforms to shape future leaders—creating spaces where every student feels heard, valued, and empowered. Her mentoring extends beyond the classroom and the court, encouraging her athletes to serve their communities and carry forward the lessons of teamwork, resilience, and responsibility. Believing that great leadership is not about doing everything alone but about unlocking leadership in others, Valencia has made it her mission to equip today’s youth with the tools, confidence, and character to succeed. Her dedication ensures her influence will endure in the lives of her students, athletes, and the communities they go on to serve. |
