Prince O. Teal, Jr.

Alpha Class Honoree

Prince O. Teal, Jr. is the consummate Quinnite.  He has been an active member of the Quinnite Nation as a student, alumnus, trustee, or employee for more than 50 years.  Trustee Teal is the embodiment of a servant leader and his tireless work on behalf of his alma mater has been an integral part of the College’s transformation.  Mr. Teal earned a bachelor’s degree from Paul Quinn College in 1969, and served on the Board of Trustees of Paul Quinn College from 2007 to 2013.

Prior to his retirement in 1995, Trustee Teal served for more than 20 years in the U.S. Department of Education in various capacities within the Federal TRiO Programs including Section Chief, Branch Chief, and Special Advisor to Deputy Assistant Secretary and Special Assistant to the Division Director. He has also served as Regional Representative for Higher Education Programs.

Trustee Teal was also instrumental in writing the recent TRiO regulations. He is known throughout the TRiO and higher education community as a no-nonsense evaluator of higher education programs. Mr. Teal is exceptionally knowledgeable about TRiO, Title III, and other higher education programs and is nationally regarded as an expert on program regulations and policies.

Although it’s hard to believe, Trustee Teal does have a life outside of Paul Quinn College.  He is currently the CEO of Teal’s Consultant Services, which he established in 1996 to provide educational consultant services to the higher education community. He has served as a trainer and facilitator for several TRiO Training Grants and as presenter at state, regional, and national Title III and TRiO conferences.

When not working in his retirement, Trustee Teal and his wife, and author, Dr. Joyce W. Teal, enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.
