Danny Colbert, Jr.

Alpha Class Honoree

Danny Colbert, Jr. is an accomplished educational leader with more than a decade of experience driving student achievement, developing teachers, and strengthening school culture. He currently serves as the Executive Principal of Duncanville High School in Duncanville ISD, where he leads one of the largest high schools in Texas through a vision grounded in instructional excellence, collaboration, and student success.

Previously, Mr. Colbert served as Principal of Alexander Elementary School, where his data-driven instructional leadership produced double-digit gains in STAAR Reading performance and measurable growth across all academic areas. Under his leadership, staff retention increased by 50%, student attendance improved, and discipline referrals decreased by 30% through the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and social-emotional learning systems.

Mr. Colbert is widely recognized for transforming professional learning communities (PLCs) into powerful engines for teacher growth and student success. His leadership has been instrumental in redesigning district-level assistant principal training programs, mentoring emerging leaders, and increasing Career and Technical Education (CTE) certification rates beyond district expectations.

A lifelong learner, Mr. Colbert earned a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Prairie View A&M University and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Paul Quinn College in 2006. His continued professional development includes participation in N2Learning, the Region 10 APLA Cohort, and the National Principals Leadership Institute in New York City.

Mr. Colbert’s leadership philosophy centers on the belief that great leaders create systems that empower others to lead and grow. Throughout his career, he has prioritized building strong instructional teams, fostering teacher leadership, and cultivating a culture of excellence built on clarity, consistency, and care. At Duncanville High School, he continues to mentor assistant principals and teacher leaders through structured development programs, many of whom have advanced into leadership roles.

Beyond academics, Mr. Colbert is deeply committed to nurturing inclusive, family-like school communities where every student feels valued and capable. He believes true success is measured not only by test scores, but by the number of students and educators who see themselves as inspired to make a difference.

Outside his professional life, Mr. Colbert is a devoted husband to his wife, Chanel, and a proud father to three children — Konnor, Avery, and Alani. His dedication to family mirrors his professional mission: to ensure that his leadership leaves every community stronger, more inspired, and better than before.
